I was in a similar circumstance a few weeks ago and had to rebook my new flight under present day conditions i.e a mixture of saver & flex flights.

I may also mention that unless you are extremely lucky I would imagine your new flight will be consciderabily more expensive than last years prices. EK's prices have definately gone up and you will earn less miles on most routes as well.
