It is interesting that millions will be spent relocating airlines within terminals to have the alliances physically together, when recent history has shown that it is not too difficult for airlines to transfer from one alliance to another.

Regarding proximity to one side of international terminal or another, I have walked several times between T3 and the IT and it is a very short walk. However, I once walked from T1 the so-called "adjacent" wing of the IT and thought it was a much longer walk. I assume the proximity issue, discussed in the airport materials as a rationale for the moves, refers to passengers on foot, since for anyone taking the monorail the difference between one stop away or two stops away is only a few seconds.
