Are we seriously recommending ANYTHING from Iceland these days?

I know this line and although it sounds as though it should be chemical-free, it isn't. You cannot preserve algae naturally. Even they admit that the products are a blend between nature and science (i.e. chemicals). Nice concept though. Maybe they will come up with a new scrub using volcanic ash, which probably would not need a preservative....
