9W and IT does indeed upgrade VIPs(e.g politicians, filmstars and media personals) and very rarely their frequent flyers to an upper class at the airport.
Also, the upgrades are usually done offline as 'favours' by the airline officers with vested 'powers' to their family and friends rather than to the most deserving frequent flyer who has spent 1000s of dollars for ticketing and travel. That’s the way it happens in the sub continent :-). If you know the man, you get the favours.... General deserving public goes to the last row as always: o)
