I am coming up with Spa Pool Villa rates of $1,000+ no matter what dates I punch in. the best I have been able to find is $860ish by booking the "early bird special".

I know there is usually a price increase every year, but this doesn't make sense. Is anyone seeing Spa Pool Villa prices in the $690ish range?
Prices at BTM have gone up dramatically since my stays last year. Then again, they were building awareness last year, and they were also hit with the swine flu.

I saw DavidO's posting about Tamarind: shame he didn't go to Saffron for dinner. Tamarind is about the worst choice he could have made--it is spa food for gosh sakes Not good.

I've tried almost every F&B in Mayakoba, Casa del Lago and Saffron are my favorites. My opinion: avoid Amber at the MO - absolutely horrible. I actually had to go to Saffron when we returned to the resort to eat dinner again because the one at Amber was so poor.

But just my opinion. There are some meals that are disappointing but you would still give them another try. For me, Amber was not one of those meals. My impression is based on one dinner, so that should be taken into consideration. Also, they could have improved since my meal there last year.

Happy travels!
