I have to wonder what club room management is thinking. There are specific art forms that have very specific and limited appeal. Whether it's country, hip hop or 12th century Gothic chants, you can be reasonably certain that only a small percentage of people in a club room to find the music a pleasant and relaxing background to the club experience.
And, yes, I've asked the bartender to turn it down, but there's a guy at the bar who turned out to be watching and, out of courtesy to him (and he was here first), I said never mind -- leave it on.
But, really, this shouldn't come up at all. What's the point of putting in [semi-]comfy furniture, carpeting, muted colors and plants if you're going to turn the club room into some kind of raucous, twangy, s___-kicker's Woodstock?
FYI, they are watching the Country Music Awards. This is a big-deal award show. Now, it may not appeal to you. OTOH, neither might the Tony's or Oscars or Emmys. I suspect that the club room management is thinking of what has broad-based appeal. I may not like baseball, but wouldn't be offended to see the World Series on TV in a club lounge. Good grief, if you are offended by the CMAs playing in a club lounge, I suggest you carry your own personal entertainment system. Oh, and BTW, I am sitting in the comfort of my living room watching that same show and thoroughly enjoying the music and the "cowboy hats." Some great talent out there.^
