I recently flew this route in FC. Not a very good experience, but still, better than Y. Those flights are often packed.
You will have a nice selection of cocktails, (pre-flight) and in flight and a hot meal on your way to KOA. Nothing special; but not awful.
If you are taking the non-stop from KOA to LAX, you will be on the redeye. Be sure to eat dinner first. The only food served is a very unhappy-looking sandwich. I declined, having had a good meal before the flight. You can even get a decent burger at that little cafe at the KOA airport.
