A friend managed to secure a flight LIS-BOS via the Azores. on SATA International. http://www.sata.pt/pt-pt

Looks like they have some availability and prices aren't sky high.

(Of course, he was supposed to be flying LHR-BOS, so getting to LIS has become an interesting adventure.)
