Cautionary tale.

I accidentally made a reservation for a hotel for the wrong dates. It was obviously a mistake since I booked for the same day in a European hotel (I'm US based) AFTER the cancellation time. . . during this air travel block.

I had put in the correct dates but must have hit the back button before I had booked. The dates were changed automatically to the current day without me noticing. I made my bedding choice and clicked thru to the final confirmation without checking the final dates again since I had made NO changes.

Because I considered a no-show, I was charged (mind you I made the res @ 2:30 PM EST, 1930 BST, the cut off time was 1600 BST). The mistake is very obvious but it is entirely my fault since I should have checked the final page for mistakes before hitting the confirm button. I'm hoping the hotel will have pity on me and allow me to apply the money towards my later stay. I was already told they will allow rebooking up to 30 days after but i hope they will extend it a bit more for me.

This is an annoying feature of Hilton reservations. So even if you make NO changes to your reservation, if you hit the back button for ANY reason, your dates may be reset. Re-check before hitting the confirmation button.
