Hi! I have just got back from a three-day odyssey London-ZRH since the pilot came on the PA after landing in LCY "Welcome to London. You´re stuck here".
Anyways, I have not seen any thread collecting the alternative ways of travel all of us affected chose (pls forgive me if I overlooked and then remove this).
I suggest a heading <Origin>-<Destination>
So here´s mine:
London-ZRH - Train from London Kings Cross to Hull - GBP50 - ~3hrs - ticketed at station (First Hull Railways)
- Taxi Hull Station - Hull Ferry Terminal - GBP 8 - 10mins
- Overnight ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge - EUR 250 - ~15hrs (1900-1000) - ticketed on the German P&O Hotline
- Shuttle Bus Zeebrugge Terminal - Brugge Station - EUR 4 - ~20mins
- Train Brugge - Aachen - Cologne - EUR 50 ~4hrs
- Train Cologne - Basel - Zurich - ~EUR 110 - ~5,5hrs
Ferry had cabin, diner and breakfast included, plus crew offered to do laundry for those travellers stranded and in need of clean undies - such as me who planned to be in and out of London the same day
