Travel Insurance and Volcano Ash

My wife and I are signed up for back to back European tours in September. We are flying into Budapest to catch a Danube River Cruise on Uniworld, and will leave the river cruise and transfer to Munich, at which point we will join a Globus tour that will include the Oberammergau Passion Play. We booked land only arrangements for the tours, as we booked our flights on award tickets on Delta.
We are nervous upon reading that the volcanic ash flight disruptions from the Icelandic eruption could last for months. If flight operations would be interupted by further volcanic ash problems, would travel insurance cover the cancellation cost of the land only arrangements? We are worried that this may be considered an "Act of God" and that a travel insurance provider might try to back out of a commitment under such circumstances.
