There is no such thing as a "southern great circle route" between Chicago and London. There is only one great circle route between any two points on the surface of the earth.
Actually, there are 1. There is the short way and the long way, unless the two points are diametrically(?) opposite. I wouldn't send an a/c the long way to avoid go around the short way though.
