It appears I was wrong, according to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-124 both Russia & Ukraine produced the plane, while the Russian "Volga-Dnepr" cargo company has contracts with Boeing to ship oversized cargo to their Everett plant. Interesting!
While some were manufactured in Kiev, they were mostly mfr'ed in Ulyanovsk.

I'm not trying to get into a pissing match here, but...

C5B has a similar payload to AN-124. Earlier versions were more similar to AN-22.
AN-124 has higher loading clearances than a C5, which is what you need for many non-standard loads.

C-141 is similar to IL-76. I can't comment on IL-76.

C-17 is good at what it does.

Like I said, AN-124 and -225 are good for unique loads that don't fit well on ordinary military transports for the US.

IIRC, C5A only had one loading door. After modifications it now has two, like the AN-124 and AN-225.
