I was flying YYC-YEG, the first checked bag in 35 flights and my bag got torn wide open (including pulled away from the frame). The fellow at YEG baggage was great, gave me a claim form, put cardboard in and taped it up for me to get to my hotel (boy was I looking professional!). It is a little frustrating because the bag came out with the clothes fully exposed where it was torn, and nobody thought to put it in a bag or even tape it up.

Anyways, I will make a claim through AC, but was wondering if anyone is aware of other insurance that would cover this damage - my home insurance has too high a deductible, but I have an RBC Avion Corporate Card (which is how I paid for my ticket) and I was wondering if there is any insurance for damaged bags with RBC (or any other travel points card)?

Serves me right for checking a bag!
