Had a earlier this week at the Doubletree downtown.

Never again.

This is a tired property. My room had multiple issues. HVAC simply wouldn't work (thermostat was broken), grate above door that had LOUD plumbing/HVAC noises constantly. Toilet almost wouldn't flush.
The area is not one I'd walk in at night. (There is a back door to the hotel which is not locked, and apparently they have a homeless problem because the restroom just inside that door was filthy and just vile with excrement everywhere. When I opened the door (long enough to see that sight, there was also a guy bathing in the restroom).

The breakfast buffet was very mediocre (most HGIs and Hamptons have better), although the bacon was limp like I like it

On the plus side, the staff was very nice and the shuttle quick.

On the minus side, when I detailed these problems at check-out, all I got was "Oh, I'm sorry." No offer to talk to the manager, or "how can we make this right for you," etc.

The stay was on a cheap rate (hard to find in San Diego!) but you get what you pay for.
