I'm no fan of PAL, but I think it's ironic given how many EU carrier flights have crashed in recent times in comparison to Philippine ones.
Yeah most notably Air France, Spanair, Turkish Airlines and now the Presidential plane of Poland. PAL and Cebu Pacific's records have been spotless for the past decade, and to think both carriers carry on average around 7-8M pax in a year, that is way above most EU airlines
