Cheers,

AG. :-:
Well, Korea is a very sexist society. As I mentioned, in all Korean offices I've ever visited, a woman in the office is expected to get coffee/drinks for guests or the senior male staff. One or more of the women staff members are expected to tidy up first thing in the morning. It matters not what her job title is, it's always a woman who does this unless a woman isn't there or available at the time.

So my guess is that this same sexist attitude carries over to OZ aircraft. Being the FAs are the one serving people, the females seem to be expected to do that while the males do nothing. If the males actually did their job, I have no problem with them being there. Actually even if they don't do anything, I have no problem with them being there either. But it just seems odd to me and a big waste of money to have such deadwood on the planes.

I have never had an OZ male FA/purser do anything to serve me on a plane in all my flights. I've also never seen a female OZ FA/purser being idle such as all the males I've seen. If the plane is full, the females are very diligent in doing their best to serve the passengers in a timely manner.

I initially thought my observations might have been statistical quirks, being I don't see male FA/pursers often on OZ, but seeing someone else mentioned it, thought I'd chime in with my observations.

Anyways, didn't mean to sound sexist. Sorry if I came across that way.
