They have a contract with the US DOD and with Nato for transport.

BTW. Just like the US has the best railroad system in the world for transporting cargo, these ex-Soviet planes (now in Ukraine and Russia) are the best transport planes for special non-containerized cargo. Too bad we only judge things on passenger aircraft and passenger railroad transport.
