In this case, Vegas.com's rates are quite a bit more expensive, actually - for those dates a studio is $244 for 2 nights on palms site vs $342 on vegas.com; a 1 bedroom suite is $468 vs $630 on vegas.com.
Nonetheless, I was all set to do the Costco/vegas.com/best rate guarantee shuffle but unfortunately it's a bit more complicated than I thought. It seems you can only book the 2 bedroom suite on palms place's own site - everywhere else just has the studio and 1 bedrooms.
However, having figured out that the 2 bedroom suite is actually just an adjoining 1 bedroom suite and studio with a shared entryway, I thought I could just book them separately (since it's cheaper to book a 1br and a studio than it is to book a 2 br) but the woman I spoke to at Palms assured me that we will not be allocated adjoining rooms unless we book as a 2br. I asked her why they charge more for the nominal '2 bedroom' and she just kept repeating that they were at a huge discount to their normal rates (around $349-$389/night rather than "$7-900"). That was also her reason for why there are no packages available for the 2br (like resort credit, nightclub passes, dining credit etc).
So, booking the 2 bedroom suite is kind of the worst of all worlds - no discounts, no specials, no extra inclusions. Yet the whole reason for looking at PP was because they were one of the few places (along with Signature, which looks a bit frumpy by comparison) to have 2 bedroom suites, so I'm reluctant to let go of that.
Any other suggestions? Or should I just bite the bullet and pay the going rate on palmsplace.com?
