Question and thought I'd throw it in this thread since it is the Volcano that is causing this issue

Paid J fare (not a discounted J) and the outbound was in J however my return tomorrow has been cx'd and I was offered
a) J on Sat a.m.
b) Y on Friday a.m.

I selected b as really want to be home by Sat afternoon

Am I eligible for any type of refund for the difference in J vs. Y on the return leg since I chose Y on Friday?

Now this may be a moot point if my flight Friday a.m. gets cancelled but I thought I may be put in the same situation for Sat/Sun if I can't get out tommorrow.

If there is a refund, what economy fare basis would they use to calculate the difference?


Oh yeah, question two

As stated above, I bought paid J; there are five F seats open according to the EXP rep I spoke with here in the UK. Although I'm ticketed in Y & without a seat assignment, could I use a VIP to jump to one of the open F seats?
