The Airport Un-Priority Experience

I know that this has been posted on before, but after my experience yesterday I really think hope that someone from AC and the GTAA reads this and thinks about making some changes.

I got to YYZ at 12:50 hoping to standby on the RapidAir flight at 2:10. Got into the Exec/Elite line behind 5-6 other people. There was one customer at the counter and no agent. An agent came over from the regular line and asked the guy if he had been helped, and he replied that he had been waiting 5 minutes and no one had been there. She called someone and an agent showed up at 1:00. By this time a few of the people ahead of me got fed up and walked away. 10 minutes later I get to the agent and get my name on the standby list and get my BP and head off to security.

I walked to the security lines behind the AC RapidAir/Exec/Elite area and noticed that the entrance to the priority lane was roped off and there was only one way into the area, and one agent at the front directing people. I was behind about 20 other pax in the line. Getting close to the front I could hear her asking people where they were headed and then telling them what line to go into without looking at BP's. She was essentially assigning them to one of the 4 lines trying to balance it out. She tried to send me to the furthest line away from the priority lane, which had the most people at it. I told her that I would rather use the priority lane since I was one of the pax that actually had a right to use it and she curtly replied "suit yourself" and pointed me in the direction of it.

All in all it took me 40 minutes to get to the gate from the time I got into the AC line. At 1:00 in the afternoon. Hardly prime time at YYZ.

I don't want to sound like I think that I deserve special treatment, but I'm not sure that waiting 20 minutes in the AC line and then 20 minutes at security is one of the perks I was promised for acheiving status with AC. GTAA is the ultimate authority of the priority lane, but it seems like none of the people staffing it even understand what it's for and who is supposed to be using it and AC touts it as a benefit to status pax.

Anybody else have a bad experience like this lately?
