It has been a couple of years now, but I was a regular on Acela First for 3 months. Obnoxious cell phone blowhards were indeed a problem, and my major complaint with the service. All throughout FlyerTalk people post their complaints about flight attendants, doormen, wait staff, etc. I almost always find other passengers, guests, and humans to be far more annoying and incompetent than staff anywhere. One guy on Acela First was working on a proposal and yelling PowerPoint instructions to his team over his cell… and I was at the complete opposite end of the car… could not stand it and finally asked him to cease (and he did). I had to ask people to keep it down numerous times. Sometimes rather than ask, I’d engage them in a conversation about the person on the other end of the line… “So how is Jim doing”… to let them know that their personal conversations are being broadcast to everyone. Of course I fully realize others will put me into that category of obnoxious humans for trying to police cell phone conversations… but so it goes.
