I have had Meet & Assist performed by the Grand Hyatt and the Intercontinental Citystars and have never had to present myself for inspection. The do see you as you leave the VIP lounge, but they don't make you wait in line. I should add there are several people who host this process, the first who meets you at the gate, and does the passport control, I believe, is employed by the Cairo Airport Authority. Once your passports have been processed, and they locate your bags you are introduced to the representative of the hotel who is based at the airport who walks you to the kerb, and calls the diver to pick you up.
