Yes, you can do this, as a standby. It's probably not allowed if you bought SEA-ORD roundtrip and ORD-DFW roundtrip on separate tickets, but other than that, it's fine.

BTW, direct flights include non-stop (all non-stops are direct, but not all direct flights are non-stop).
