ericgartner, I like your idea for this thread... let me share my results as well:
- Made 12 one-night stays in January and February - mostly in NYC, some in Chicago
- Across those 12 stays I spent $2,130.51 (not including tax) for an average rate of $177.54 per night (not including tax)
- I earned 79,777 points from those 12 stays (many of them were at NYC hotels that were offering triple points rates, so things really added up) - that includes my 500 point AXP online booking bonus and my 1,000 point diamond amenity, where applicable
- I earned another 19,175 points from my Surpass card for paying for those rooms (again, for the sake of convenience I am not including what I earned from paying the tax on the rooms - just the base rates)
- Thus in total I earned 98,952 points and three of the free night certificates for twelve one-night stays --- in effect, a grand total of five free nights at any Hilton property worldwide.
- Oh yeah, I also earned 12,000 BMI miles
