If you've got a Platinum or Centurion Amex card, the MO is in the Fine Hotels & Resorts programme. This gets you an upgrade (which has always been honoured on the 2 times I've been, and very generously so, once to a massive villa with its own piano amongst other things), 1 free lunch and free breakfast every day, plus 4pm late check-out. Rates may also be lower than are publicly available although this is not guaranteed.

I imagine that a Virtuoso travel agent like DavidO who posts on here can book you a similar package, assuming Virtuoso / Mandarin put together special packages, so if you've not got an Amex this may be the way to go.

Alternatively, you'll get a small discount (10% or so) by booking through Expedia / hotels.com and using Jackpot Rewards / Quidco / ebates / whatever to link through to that site and then taking the cashback. You might also want to see if Expedia has any special rates up anyway.
