travelling a lot & having a good points balance does certainly help....but if you have achieved plat then you are doing a decent amount of travel so i don't think there would be too much difference between a new plat & an old plat with a few million miles....
....but there would be, Jet are no mugs. They know that you have spent (im guessing) a couple hundred thousands dollars, pounds whatever your currency is and they will bend over backwards for you so that you carrying spending with them. Whereas someone who has just become a plat is not going to get the same treatment as you.
