I thought you were talking about staff being screened upon leaving the secure area (which I believe not to be the case - they are only screened upon entering the secure area, I believe). Sorry, I misunderstood.
ALL Airside staff must go through security... certainly in the US and the UK. In both countries all Airside staff under go security clearance before gaining employment... including a criminal records check.
I know - but it's really not that much a security clearance. Insufficiently strict, shall I say.
