The hill tribes have been burning the hillsides for planting for generations. Burning also takes place in the lowlands exacerbating the problem. So long as the rainy season gives close to average rainfall there should be no problems with visibility until the later in the dry season.
I think it is mostly people with respiratory illnesses who are concerned over this.....I know 2 people in the Cmai area that have mild asthma and have to leave the area when the burning starts as they have trouble breathing. If you don't have a respiratory problem, the pollution probably has little short term effect.
