write AA about this. and keep writing/calling until you are compensated. these arbitrary seizures of our personal property are out of control! i understand that we choose to fly, etc, etc, but there does need to be a 'reasonable standard.' IMHO, AA owes you for the cost of that laser pointer. some of those things aren't cheap!
