Tips for posting new Mileage Run Deals:
  • We are trying to standardize thread titles. List the airline, the route, and the price, e.g., AS: PDX-LAX $99+. Also list anything that’s particularly noteworthy or unusual about the fare (e.g., “books into Y, 150% EQM”).
  • Usually, fares should be posted at their round-trip price. If you do post one-way fares (perhaps because a fare is only available one-way), clearly spell it out that the price refers to one-way.
  • Post fare in local currency of the fare and include the local currency abbreviation so that the currency is clear (e.g. USD 100, EUR 100, AUD100, CDN100 etc). To avoid confusion for our international posters, we suggest the usage of "USD" instead of "$" if you are referring to US Dollars. If you want to add a value in a second currency, it's quick and easy to get an exchange rate at xe.com or similar sites.
  • Post a 'cost per mile' figure in the first post rather than in title as we get problematic threads when arguments over cpm arise. Also please post the normal cents per mile amount without elite status bonuses as all readers will not have the same level of elite status.
  • Send an 'Alert Moderators to this post' (the "!" button) message ASAP to Moderators if you need a thread title updated for corrections, changes or to have it turned into a 'fare gone' and moved to Mileage Run Discussion

  • Certain Mileage Run fares which are non-standard (or not quite up to the usual 'value' or cost per mile, but still useful fares for somebody - and still accrue miles/status) should be posted to their respective 'mega thread'. Fares which require additional techniques to reduce costs should be posted to the Trick It thread. Fares which are not quite 'MR Deals worthy' in terms of cpm should go to the 'Good Deals... City Pairs' thread. Business/First Class fares which happen to make great MRs, for whatever reason, should go in the Premium Fares thread. Premium Economy fares also have their own megathread.
Most of these threads have a year in the title and get closed and a new year's version opened on January 1.
  • Use your discretion regarding sale or promotional fares which require/have a coupon or a related hotel deal. If the deal is in the ballpark of a true 'MR Deal' fare, then feel free to post! All of the guidelines here apply.
