Wireless Internet access in the Tokyo area - Wi2 300
Just got back from Japan and wanted to rave about a Wireless service I used in Tokyo that may help out other people.
A friend of mine recommended "Wi2 300" which is a service which covers the Tokyo Metropolitan area. I bought a 2000 yen pass for 7 days of use.
I stayed at the Shinagawa Prince and ironically never found a Wi2 access point anywhere during my trip in Tokyo. However, they have roaming agreements with mobilespot (Yahoo BB!), UQ_Wifi and livedoor. The cxn protocols and keys were available while checking out after purchasing your pass.
I ended up checking e-mail/Facebook/chatting on Skype a lot using the mobilespot access point in the Annex Tower lobby of the Shinagawa Prince and all over Tokyo near McDonald's and other places. UQ_Wifi was also available on the N'Ex back to Narita (but not on the older train from Narita). Admittedly, wi-fi wasn't available *everywhere* (the Main Tower lobby of the Shinagawa had a docomo AP) but it was enough to keep me incredibly happy.
I also had to e-mail their technical support service in English because I was logged on to wifi back home and accidentally logged into their application when setting it up prior to my trip. They responded within 24 hours that everything was fine and that I didn't activate my pass from Canada. Their response was also clear and concise which was surprising.
Anyways, I hope this helps other people out. In case you're curious, I had everything set-up on my iPhone.
