I agree with everyone's comments that the Maldives (at the right hotel), your experience will be far more memorable than French Polynesia. But if you like to have options of more land activities, then Bora Bora or Morrea would be better. Maldives Islands are small, flat, but with great beaches and spectacular coral formations and ocean life.

Four Seasons will offer you great service and accomodation, but will not have the best beachside snorkeling/diving. I reccomend Cocoa Island and Huvafen Fushi for great privacy, food, accomodation and Ocean life.
