Another thought on why I liked 2D so well: It was (obviously) perfectly centered in the middle of the plane and, thanks to wide aisles and ample space between rows, had excellent views out windows on both sides of the cabin. That made takeoff especially interesting -- things to watch in every direction. It also made the sensation of turbulence a little different than what we're all used to -- felt much more even, and less off-balance, for lack of a better way to describe it. In some ways, the middle J seat on a 777 may be similar -- but less ability to see out the windows, and obviously less aisle access / worse service / etc. which all make 2D especially nice on 762 in F.
