But if D is not available, just book into L on the Crash8 CBR-SYD.
I went to Qantas Travel today mainly to check the mileage and to get a quote with the taxes. Once I confirmed the prices for both L and D, I said I had to check a few things and I'd come back, likely next week. I was able to get online at the local libary and check what I needed to, so I went back an hour later.
When I looked at CBR-SYD on seat counter, D was zeroed out on all flights (and the next day also). L was wide open on most flights.
When I got back to QF Travel, I mentioned that D didn't appear to be open on that flight, he told me not to worry about it and he'd get them to open one.
The travel agent disappeared into the back room with my QFF card where I assume he called QF yield management. When he came back out, the D seat was cleared. I wouldn't have minded if I got an L seat, it's only a 45min flight after all, but he said they would open the seat, so he went and asked.
Or just start in SYD and save the mileage at the cost of a cheap CBR-SYD flight.
I already have to pay for a few extra flights during my trip, if I can get an extra sector for 'free' (ie, wouldn't effect the xAS13 cost one way or the other), I'd prefer that. Though if the mileage had been over the limit, CBR-SYD was the first one on the chopping block.
And, if transferring between HND and NRT, avoid the bus and take the train. The bus I endured stopped the air con as a few complained it was too cold and then there was no air at all for the next 90 minutes

.
Didn't plan to. I've been to both HND and NRT before, though never as a connection. I've always gotten the train to/from both airports.
It looks like I'll miss the new, quicker Narita Sky Access (it's set to open the day
after my NRT-HND connection). I'd just get the Narita Express to Shinagawa and change to the Keikyu Line to Haneda. I have 4 hours between QF21 arriving in NRT and JL113 departing HND.
