Are you absolutley sure. I believe that you should "update" the ESTA form online each time you are planning to enter the US (by air). I believe that this has become more stringent of late. I base that on personal experience and that of a colleague who was being denied boarding at LHR on a flight to ORD until she updated online.

You don't need to put any details on the ESTA application that would change save for a change of passport. The only reason your colleague would have been denied boarding is if the ESTA did not match EXACTLY to the details provided through API.
