Indeed French AMEX is rubbish compared to the airline credit card benefits that you can obtain in other countries (US, UK, HK,..). Only interest is status miles, but all other benefits are very poor (mileage, upgrade, promotions..). So if you are earn status through flying a lot, it is really poor in terms of mileage. Maybe they will start many promotion such as "turbo".
Well, the Plus option is something you have to pay for - it includes double miles when spending, but also a permanent travel insurance policy (Also for bookings not made with the amex card), and so on. Apparently it only applies to Dutch cards, like this Turbo promotion now only applies to (some) French cards.
I think by default the French card earns more miles though, although I have problems finding the actual earnings chart. From what I remember it is more than 1 mile per euro spent. But that also includes status miles, which actually is impossible with the Dutch version.
One major advantage of the Dutch Amex is that you can give out two additional cards. I did this for my girlfriend and dad. Even though they dont fly much (couple times a year), they got their FB status matched (upgraded) to Gold as well.
