YMMV. Sometimes you have a kind manager like you had. But they are under no obligation to offer the additional amenity, e.g. breakfast, to the person sharing the room. Many places won't esp if it is rate such as the spring offer w/breakfast (or w/dinner too).

Speaking from experience, I forgot to change the #people from 1 to 2 for a dinner inclusive rate. We had to pay for my BF. I was (still am) Diamond but the rules state that only the room aspect is free, not any additional amenities w/the room rate.

If that is the rate you are booking, i would NOT take chances on the kindness of the manager/FD. In these tight times, I think they would be more strict in following the letter of the rules. Besides, the rules specifically say other additional amenities are NOT included.

Also a caveat NOT to berate/threaten, etc the FD if they refuse to give the second person any amenity included in the rate if you book a 1-person rate. That person is entitled to THE ROOM ONLY! The included breakfast/dinner/massage, etc if booked as 1 person is ONLY for ONE person. The other person is NOT entitled to any of it!
