You must have departed between 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm, or after 8:00 pm. Otherwise you should have received a meal, albeit a cold one.
Other airlines flying similar distances from LGA (e.g. AA LGA-DFW, CO LGA-IAH) have similar meal policies, although their "snack" during those times is a bit better than your choice of as many salty things in bags as you can eat.
