If I understand correctly the flights have gone from F3 JL WL YL to something like F3 A1 J9 C9 D9 R7 I3 W3 EL Y9 B9 H9 ... O4.

RM should not really work like this to the extent described. If there are seats available and the fares from LON are good (they should be) there should at least be some availability in JWY.

This sounds like a blunder to me. Possibly the analyst in charge of the route put in place some kind of bizarre and inappropriate instrument influencing BA's fare bucket availability optimiser or demand forecaster.
