Like AA and IB (plus UA and LH), JAL could tow its airplane to AA's domestic ORD terminal for departure, making connections on outbound flights that much more convenient. Of course, connections on inbound flights will remain hoplelessly inconvenient, but that's an inconvenience shared by all.
By moving departing flights to T3, AA and JAL could share lounge costs.
Certainly could happen, but I think a move to T8 at JFK is most likely.
