Thanks Guys...my prepaid internet had ran out, so I just got on line.
Yes, I found out the phone did have a very cheap speaker phone. It is called 'altavoz' in Spanish

The quality was pretty bad, so we put the phone in a Frisbee to improve the quality
My alternate plan was a second cell phone.
A few hours later T-mobile did send me unlock codes for my Blackberry. So I should be set for future calls.
I am at a primitive beach in Central America for a month. My set up is a USB internet cell dongle ($15/week) connected to an Alluratek router in addition to a Linksys repeater...I get wifi in the whole property. Other than the speed it works well.
The prepaid cell phones usually are $0.10 back to the USA. However, they just ran a 3x special...so my cost is $0.03.
I am a little worried that the power is dirty and may affect my Mac.
