Slightly OT: Malcolm McLaren RIP

So, Farewell Then Malcolm McLaren...

And at a depressingly young 64.

Beside all the publicity seeking and assorted other irritating stunts, McLaren did produce some remarkably fine music, including the late '80s / early 90s versions of Delibes's Lakmé / Flower Duet used in BA campaigns.

His 'Aria on Air' was used in the 'Face' advert and was a slightly more 'upbeat' mix than those of Howard Blake (and IIRC was reworked with Greek composer Yanni).

So, next time you hear the BA 'theme', remember its connection to such classic albums as "Never Mind The...", and a man who - like him or loathe him - made a huge contribution to pop culture.
