You do raise, however, some interesting points here in the state of Eliot Spitzer.
€10,000 based on yesterday's close of $1.3374 reported in the Journal would equal $13,374. I'm wondering if such a large purchase would enable you to get a discount rate since the above rate is the wholesale, bank rate.
Naturally, if you are withdrawing $10,000 or more from a bank in single or multiple transactions you'll have to file
FinCen Form 104.
If you take $10,000 or more out of the U.S., you'll
also need to report that on
FinCen Form 105.
Finally, the French government has its own law on the transportation of currency and expects you to declare
to French Customs if you are bringing in €10,000 or more. See this page for more information from the
French Embassy about
their form. (I just love how currency is referred to as "liquid money.")
