Thanks Dave

yes have long been interested in crossing to AA, and I have come to the following conclusion. I have QF WP until June 2011.

Now on my calculations I could get AA platinum for about $810AUD which is going to get me into most lounges I need fair enough I do like the BA T5 first class lounge but I can live without it. At that rate QF LTG would take 34 years to be cost effective assuming a $2 dollar a status credit cost which is being generous to Qantas LTG.

Therefore for $100 dollars more than the Qantas club membership I would get to choose seats on AA,BA for free and also be able to take a guest into the lounge which I would have to pay more for if just a Qantas club member. Now the only downside is the lack of lounge access in the USA.

Seems like come 2011 I might be crossing to AA, for the time been although I have always been tempted by a mileage run and had a nice one planned out for about $2k AUD for about 940 status credits I might just live without first class lounge access come 2011.
