I must have been editing my post just as you posted. After searching google I got my answer, seems kind of strange that N which on AA only earns 50% would earn points/SC on Qantas. However W which earns 100% on AA earns nothing on Qantas.
So any benefits to being AA(Sapphire) and QF(Platinum)? Perhaps I should just give up the idea for a mileage run to retain platinum and just Earn AA(Sapphire). IMHO it is rather cheap looking at a W class fare LHR-LAX-LHR it is around 640 AUD plus the 170AUD for the platinum challenger seems like a very cheap way of getting Oneworld Sapphire, if only I did not already have it and more.
