As noted in original MHD discussion, the purpose of the trip was to meet with Client #2 in YYC. Due to school break, all AC discounted seats were booked into /ex-YYC and meeting was arranged after the 14-day advance booking window had closed. Best AC fare was $1,809 + taxes and fees in Y-class, YYZ-YYC-YYZ. (All charters also fully booked because of school holidays.) Also had to do Montreal meetings on the 16th which would have required the VIA Rail travel and hotel in any case. Thus the option of spending $1,438 for a J-class MHD made complete financial sense. As well, Client #2 could be accommodated with a second follow up meeting in their Vancouver offices with the project staff to be involved in my assignment. And I could grab a couple of days of sun over the weekend at minimal cost.

The trip took full advantage of stopover/flight change privilege of the J8 fare, as well as AC’s current “double/triple/quadruple” bonus. Q-miles put me over the 35K Elite requalification (and thus add a 5K bonus), and when added to my existing miles this year, garner 6 NA Upgrade certificates.
