Simple: avoid JFK entirely. Route yourself on a connection thru any other airport, and then if you're late leaving CDG, call AA and ask them to protect you so wherever you end up, you've got a reservation home, with a nice seat.

(I'm not sure yet, because I sure like ExPlat, but the real solution may just be to take UA, nonstop).....
