What incentive would they have to be intentionally dishonest about this? Wouldn't they want to encourage you to rebook at higher fares by being clear about the terms and conditions?
WN promos are A-L-W-A-Y-S as you describe... they only apply to those fligths purchased after registration. It was no surprise to most people on here. I'm sorry it was to you, but calling them dishonest is a bit off the mark IMO, especially when they clarified the wording this time.
