OK--I've stayed away from this thread intentionally until now and have read all the posts. Many posters have become my friends on the board.
These premium tags are the biggest joke in the system. It absolutely matters NOT--what your status, destination, trans-con, int'l travel--you name it. They do not improve baggage service. IMO, they positively worsen it. It is like an "organge flag" to screw that piece of baggage up.
AA has been told this many times by forum members. I strongly advise anyone having an illusion that such tags are beneficial, and, rather, suggest that one request check-in agents from putting them on at all.
In summary, premium tags are the cruelest joke in the travel system, especially since folks travelling in premium cabins are duped into relying on them. There is no question in my mind. They intensify my resolve and belief that I will never check my luggage.
